Fire1 is a medical device company that is developing a proprietary wireless sensing and communication technology for the human body. The technology platform is designed to improve the management of chronic heart failure patients, and possibly dialysis patients. A small circular wireless sensor can be implanted in the patient’s Interior Vena Cava, using minimally invasive techniques, to transmit data that can be used to monitor the patient’s overall fluid load (which is an important physiological parameter in CHF patients). The sensors are designed to be permanently implanted and do not have any leads or batteries.
